It is a meeting place with a strong underground element. We have a few street artists occupying the space, Drewfunk and Regan Tamanui aka HA HA leading the way, with a few younger artists being mentored by Blender for two or more years instead of going to university. We have set up the Melbourne Street Tours: a famous street artist gives the tour, it starts at Fed Square and works its way through the city to the Blender Studios. Lamington Drive was established in August 2008 as a gallery space dedicated to showing the work of those represented by The Jacky Winter Group. It explores the awkward idea of having commercial art in a gallery space, and exists as a venue in which illustrators, cartoonists and designers can explore this same art/commercial art tension in their practices.
