okay a real quick one. whats been going on?
Fire: the greedy developers best friend has struck again in abando land – blatantly obviously deliberately lit so as the whole building would have to be gutted because the heritage overlay included all the rooms not just the facade and the developer would have lost a couple of hundred million in profit without that extra footspace. Its happened before and it’ll unfortunately happen again. the orb – the road surface research facility was heritage listed until at least 3 separate (simultaneous) fires were diliberatly lit inside leaving it in a state where it will have to be torn down – bye bye heritage listing. The Nylex silos and buildings were only allowed to be a craft brewery until those ‘totally random’ side by side fires meant many of the builings were now either completely destroyed or had to be torn down due to structural warping – voila ‘The Malt District’ is born! Apartments from $445k or whatever.
Unfortunately never got to explore Goldfingers/ The Kilkenny Hotel. As it stands it was only 3 oldschool stories high (approx 7-8 new school stories high) and the developer was going for 21 stories.
